BREAKING: TINUBU RENAMES OLOKOLA DEEP SEAPORT, APPROVES IMMEDIATE TAKE-OFF

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for the start of commercial oil exploration at Tongeji Island in Ipokia Local Government Area, a move set to place Ogun State on the map as an official oil-producing state.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, made this known while hosting the Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, during a courtesy visit in Abeokuta.

The governor also revealed that approval has been granted for the immediate commencement of the Olokola Deep Seaport project located in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, ending years of delay surrounding the initiative.

According to Abiodun, the seaport—now renamed the Blue Marine Economic Zone—represents a significant milestone that will ease pressure on Lagos ports while opening up vast economic prospects for coastal and host communities.

He applauded President Tinubu for showing keen commitment to both projects, noting that discussions are already underway to ensure swift execution. The governor further commended the Nigerian Navy for upgrading its presence at Tongeji Island into a Forward Operations Base aimed at improving border surveillance and security.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Mustapha emphasized Ogun State’s growing relevance to national security and assured the state government of continued cooperation and support.
