BREAKING: Tinubu Renames University of Maiduguri in Honour of Late President Buhari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renamed the University of Maiduguri after former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13 in London following a prolonged illness.

The announcement was made on Thursday during an expanded Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, convened in honour of the late Nigerian leader.

Buhari, aged 82, was laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on July 15, in accordance with Islamic rites, after his body was flown back to Nigeria and received with full military honours.

In a tribute following Buhari’s death, President Tinubu described him as “a patriot, a soldier, and a statesman,” whose life was marked by unwavering dedication to duty, national unity, and the progress of Nigeria.
