Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has stepped down from his position following allegations of certificate forgery. The resignation was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s media aide, who stated that the president has accepted Nnaji’s decision to resign.
Nnaji, who was appointed to the ministerial role in August 2023, submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. In the letter, he claimed to have been the target of blackmail by political opponents, which he suggested contributed to the controversy surrounding his credentials.
