The Kano State House of Assembly is in mourning following the deaths of two serving lawmakers, Aminu Ungogo and Sarki Daneji, who reportedly passed away within hours of each other on Wednesday.
Aminu Ungogo, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, was the first to die. He reportedly passed away at the Assembly complex after a brief illness. His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai.

According to the statement, Ungogo died while on active duty at the Kano State House of Assembly and is survived by his wife and children.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Jibril Falgore, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, his constituents, and fellow lawmakers, describing the loss as irreplaceable. He noted that Ungogo’s death came at a critical time when his service was needed by the people of Kano State.

Both lawmakers were serving their respective constituencies until their deaths.
