Bandit Attack in Kaduna Leaves Two Dead, Highlights Vulnerability of Rural Communities

Kaduna State continues to face serious security challenges, with rural communities increasingly vulnerable to violent attacks. On Tuesday night, armed bandits launched a deadly raid on Tudun Wadan Rido in Chikun Local Government Area, killing two residents.

The attackers, reportedly operating in large numbers, opened fire indiscriminately, leaving several others seriously injured. The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after the assailants fled.

A local source confirmed the attack, describing the chaos and fear that spread through the village as the bandits struck. Authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.

This latest incident comes just days after another security breach in Kaduna State. On Wednesday, the Catholic Diocese of Zaria confirmed the abduction of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema from his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi. The priest was reportedly taken the previous night, raising alarm among parishioners and the broader community.

In a statement signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Isek Augustine, the Diocese expressed deep concern over the abduction and outlined immediate steps being taken to ensure the priest’s safe return.

“We regret to officially announce the abduction of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, from his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi, on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2025, around 11:30 pm,” the statement read. The Diocese also called on the public to support efforts to secure his release.
