Dr. Christopher Kolade, a highly respected broadcaster, diplomat, and elder statesman, has passed away at the age of 92.
His family confirmed the sad news in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that he died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family’s statement read in part.
Born on December 28, 1932, Dr. Kolade led an illustrious career that spanned several decades, leaving his mark in media, education, diplomacy, and public service.
He once served as the Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and later became Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Beyond his diplomatic service, he was also the Pro-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University and chaired multiple corporate and non-profit boards, where he was widely respected for his integrity and leadership.
Until his passing, Dr. Kolade remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s national affairs, known for his wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to public good.
The family noted that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
