A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced Tuesday, November 18, as the date for its Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Council (NEC) meetings. The group is led by factional National Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman.

The schedule was confirmed by the factional National Secretary, Sam Anyawu, who said the meetings would take place at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
“Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed,” Anyawu added.
The announcement comes in the wake of the party’s recent contentious national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. During that convention, PDP chieftain Chief Olabode George moved a motion to expel Wike, Ayodele Fayose, Sam Anyawu, and other members for alleged anti-party conduct.

The Ibadan event was attended by several governors, including Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), alongside other party leaders. However, some governors, including Fintiri and Mutfwang, have publicly distanced themselves from the expulsion motion.

The convention also elected Kabiru Turaki, former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, as the PDP National Chairman. Turaki, the sole candidate for the position, won with 1,516 votes.
Wike’s faction now seeks to consolidate its position and address internal party matters in its upcoming BoT and NEC meetings.
