The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Council (NEC) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expelled three governors and several top party members.
Those expelled include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

Others suspended for alleged anti-party activities are former PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former Minister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki; Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja; and party chieftain Bode George, among others.

The Wike-led NEC also dissolved the State Executive Councils in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, Edo, and Ekiti States.
The decisions were reached during the party’s 103rd NEC meeting held at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

According to the communiqué read by the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the NEC said the action was taken to preserve the unity and discipline of the party amid rising internal divisions.
Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, who presented the expulsion memo, said the affected members defied court rulings and engaged in conduct that brought the party into disrepute.

The communiqué stated that the NEC approved disciplinary procedures against several members, including Adolphus Wabara, Bode George, Kabiru Turaki, Bala Mohammed, Seyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, and others for violating party rules and court orders.
It also directed the formation of caretaker committees in the affected states and approved Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck as Acting National Vice Chairman (South East).

The NEC further ratified the appointment of Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman as Acting National Chairman and directed the party’s legal team to initiate actions to reclaim seats from elected officials who defected from the PDP, in accordance with the 1999 Constitution.
The statement reaffirmed that the PDP will no longer tolerate indiscipline or factional activities, pledging to rebuild trust and restore public confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier in the day, tension erupted at the PDP national headquarters as rival factions loyal to Wike and the governors clashed over control of the secretariat. Security operatives were deployed as teargas was reportedly fired to disperse the opposing groups.

Governor Makinde arrived with his faction’s new National Secretary, Taofeek Arapaja, while Wike’s group maintained support for Samuel Anyanwu, who insists his tenure remains valid until December 2025.
The confrontation has deepened the PDP’s leadership crisis, raising concerns about the opposition party’s ability to unite before the next general election
