Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle, an artillery officer, has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
His appointment has been met with enthusiasm in Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government, and across Osun State, as he becomes one of the state’s distinguished sons to assume a key national position. Many view his selection as a recognition of his dedication and service to the nation, with high expectations for positive reforms under his leadership.
The new NYSC DG hails from Ileogbo, near Iwo in Osun State. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief of Staff to the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56 on November 5, 2024, in Lagos after a period of illness.
