Following up on an earlier phone call to the Dangote family in Kano, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday sent a delegation to represent him at the burial of Aliko Dangote’s younger brother, Sani, who died after a protracted illness in the United States.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘President Buhari’s delegation in Kano, mourns Sani Dangote, says his honesty in business is exemplary.’
The body of the deceased was brought to Kano early on Wednesday and was buried after the funeral prayer at the Palace of the Emir of Kano.
In a message to the patriarch of the Dantata family, Aminu Dantata, and to the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, the President described the deceased as an honest business leader with a reputation for honesty and integrity.
In a letter sent through the delegation led by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Buhari described the late Dangote as “an exemplary person who, along with his brother, Aliko demonstrated the power of human spirit and determination.”
Also, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has said that Nigeria lost a rare gem who believed in the Federal Government’s agricultural policy.
Osinbajo spoke when he paid a condolence visit to Dangote’s families in Kano on Wednesday.
According to him, the deceased was instrumental to the Federal Government’s agricultural policy.
