A growing coalition of political actors is mounting opposition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration, with governance experts describing the movement as an attempt to restore Nigeria’s previous power structures that benefited from systemic corruption.

Dr. G. Fraser, a Governance & Perception Management Consultant with The National Patriots, argues that “Tinubu’s administration is not perfect, but a lightning rod for long-overdue transformation—and the real enemy is fear of change by those who wield power.”

The Reform Disruption

According to Fraser’s analysis titled “Nigeria in the Balance: Tinubu, the Coalition, and the Crossroads of Change,” the current president has systematically dismantled traditional corruption channels. “Tinubu emerged and changed that system. He blocked their looting conduit pipe from fuel subsidy, forex control, solid minerals cabals to bunkering,” the report states.

This disruption has reportedly angered established powerbrokers who previously controlled Nigeria’s governance decisions and resource allocation.

Political Reactions

The analysis has drawn strong responses from across Nigeria’s political spectrum. A former governor, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s prospects: “The Almighty God that made it possible for him to win the elections in 2023 is available now to guide him to 2027 and make him succeed.”

Prof. Olawale, an academic observer, praised the depth of Fraser’s analysis: “The way the situation of Nigeria has been analyzed by Dr. Fraser is impressive, deep, and insightful. One wonders why these aggrieved politicians who have lost out in the power game are so desperate to remove Bola Tinubu.”

Coalition Dynamics

Imran Khazaly, a lecturer analyzing the political landscape, characterized opposition figures as “wolves in sheep’s clothing” seeking revenge rather than genuine governance reform. He specifically criticized former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s alignment with anti-Tinubu forces, calling it “political suicide.”

Looking Toward 2027

Multiple observers predict Tinubu will seek and win a second term. “There is no way the Southwest will not have a second term like the Northwest. It’s impossible. Tinubu will go for a second term and win,” Prof. Olawale stated.

The broader narrative emerging from supporters portrays this as “a nation at war with itself—between reform and resistance, truth and power,” as Princess Gloria Adebajo-Fraser MFR of The National Patriots describes it.

Fraser concludes with a stark assessment: “Not every war is fought with guns. Some are fought with lies, coalitions, and the fear of losing control,” suggesting the political battle will intensify as vested interests mobilize against continued reforms.

The coalition’s ultimate success may depend on whether Nigerian voters embrace the promised transformation or succumb to what analysts call carefully orchestrated propaganda campaigns designed to restore the previous order.
