The Federal High Court in Enugu has ordered the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The ruling, issued by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello on Tuesday, followed an ex-parte motion filed by a group of 2025 post-UTME candidates Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak representing other affected applicants. The candidates sought interim injunctions to prevent UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB from releasing, approving, uploading, or finalizing any admission lists for the new session.
Justice Segun-Bello, in his ruling, noted a “veritable and triable issue” warranting a hearing from both sides. He directed the applicants to notify the respondents and ordered all parties to maintain the status quo, halting any changes to the 2025/2026 admission process until the substantive motion is heard.
Alex Onyia, an education technology expert and CEO of Educare, shared the court order on his X handle on Tuesday.
The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for further hearing.
