On October 16, 2025, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja directed all parties in a lawsuit seeking to halt the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) planned national convention to maintain the status quo pending the case’s resolution. The order came after PDP lawyer Chris Uche, SAN, raised concerns about the suit obstructing the party and requested an expedited hearing.

Justice Omotosho emphasized that no actions should undermine the litigation, warning that any such moves could be nullified. He assured a judgment by the end of October, noting he personally types his rulings to avoid delays. The court scheduled a definitive hearing for Monday, confirming all parties had been served.

The suit, filed by PDP members Austin Nwachukwu (Imo Chairman), Amah Abraham Nnanna (Abia Chairman), and Turnah George (South-South Secretary), seeks to stop the PDP’s November 15-16 convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where new national officers are to be elected.
