A shawarma vendor, identified as Afeez, was shot dead by suspected cultists at his shop, Xelebrity Shawarma, near the MTN Bus Stop along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the area while Afeez was attending to customers and shot him at close range before fleeing.
Anti-cultism group NaijaConfra confirmed the incident, alleging that members of the Eiye confraternity were responsible. However, the group noted that local sources did not link Afeez to any cult group. Some residents claimed the attack may have been personal — possibly connected to an alleged affair or a business dispute after Afeez bought a white Toyota Avalon.

Described as humble and hardworking, Afeez’s death has sparked outrage and renewed fears over cult-related violence in Lagos communities.
Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the killing and said detectives from the homicide unit have begun an investigation to identify the culprits and determine the motive.
Despite ongoing police efforts, cult-related clashes and killings remain frequent across several parts of the state.
