Customs CG welcomes Apapa command for drug seizure
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Comptroller General (CG), Retired Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali, congratulated the Controller of the Apapa Region Command Comptroller Mallanta Ibrahim Yussuf for the seizure of unregistered pharmaceuticals .
The public relations officer of the Apapa Zone Command, Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) Abubakar Usman, made this known in a statement made available to reporters in Lagos on Saturday.
According to Usman, the unregistered pharmaceuticals were contained in container No. GESU 6642430 (1 × 40 FT) containing 1,427 cartons.
He noted that in what has been described as “an outstanding performance,” CG Ali praised Yussuf for exercising due diligence in intercepting and seizing the prohibited items.
Usman said the intercepted container was loaded with 144 cartons of 200 mg tramadol tablets; one box of 100 mg tramadol tablets, 958 boxes of Septran (Co-trimoxazole), 180 boxes of CAC – 100 Plus Effervescent tablets and 144 boxes of Oxytocin injection.
In a congratulatory letter, signed by Comptroller KA Olusemire, the Comptroller General said: “By this act you have demonstrated an attitude of zero tolerance for corruption and other vices in accordance with the political guidance of this administration.
The letter also congratulated all the officers in the command for the laudable achievement. (NAA)
