Customs Tin Can Command Nets ₦16.4Billion Revenue In One Day With B’Odogwu Platform

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin Can Island Port Command, has announced a historic milestone after generating over ₦16.4 billion in revenue in a single day on Tuesday, August 19, 2025—the highest daily collection ever recorded at the Command.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara, disclosed that the feat was achieved through the full deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly called B’ Odogwu.

B’ Odogwu Platform Driving Transformation

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the achievement as a major breakthrough in modern port operations. He credited the record-breaking revenue to the effectiveness, transparency, and responsiveness of the B’ Odogwu platform, which has redefined Customs procedures at Tin Can Port.

According to Onyeka, the system has:

  • Empowered licensed Customs agents and stakeholders by providing seamless access to multiple payment gateways.
  • Enabled real-time cargo clearance, cutting down delays and red tape.
  • Integrated critical Customs and port functions into one unified digital interface.

This integration, he said, now guarantees faster cargo processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced oversight of cargo movements, ultimately delivering a predictable and efficient operational environment.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Benefits

Comptroller Onyeka stressed that the achievement goes beyond revenue numbers, describing it as a signal of transformation in Nigeria’s port system. He noted that the milestone reflects the success of a collaborative approach involving terminal operators, shipping companies, licensed agents, and regulatory bodies.

“The impressive revenue figure represents more than financial success—it underscores the transformative impact of B’ Odogwu in modernizing Customs operations. It is also a testament to the cooperative synergy between Customs and its stakeholders in ensuring smooth, compliant, and business-friendly cargo clearance,” Onyeka said.

Commitment to Trade Facilitation

The Customs chief reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to continuous improvement, pledging that Tin Can Island would remain at the forefront of trade facilitation and national revenue generation.

He assured port users of timely, cost-effective, and transparent cargo clearance services, while reiterating that the Command would sustain efforts to safeguard government revenue, promote efficiency, and align operations with Nigeria’s broader economic goals.
