Dalung Warns Tinubu of Electoral Backlash, Cites Jonathan’s 2015 Defeat

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung, has urged the ruling party to prioritize good governance, warning that Nigerians judge leaders based on performance before elections. In a TrustTV News interview, Dalung referenced former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 loss, despite heavy campaign spending, as evidence of voters’ unpredictability.

He noted that Nigerians who publicly supported Jonathan, including those chanting his name, ultimately voted against him, citing an instance where a sitting Vice President was prevented from voting at his polling unit. “The same people who went around and sang Jonathan’s name, on election day, they showed their real colours,” Dalung said.

Dalung cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that failure to revise controversial policies could lead to a similar fate in the next election. “If the President doesn’t alter his policies and continues to listen to this army, of press singers and propagandists, he will be in for a very big shocker,” he warned.
