Dangote Refinery’s newly acquired Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks have officially commenced operations, with the first batch loading petroleum products on Monday for direct supply to filling stations nationwide.
At the refinery’s gantry, the trucks were seen taking turns to load products, marking the start of what is expected to be a major boost in the country’s fuel distribution chain.
In August, the refinery announced it had received the initial batch of its 4,000 CNG-powered trucks dedicated to the programme, which was originally scheduled to begin on August 15.
The deployment aligns with Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner energy alternatives, with CNG trucks expected to reduce reliance on diesel and cut distribution costs.
