Anu Adeleke, the alleged first daughter of Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke (Davido), has publicly appealed to the singer to undergo a DNA test, saying she wants clarity about her identity as she prepares to turn 13 this year.
In a post shared on her official Instagram page on January 15, 2026, Anu explained that as she transitions into her teenage years, she believes it is important to know who her biological father is.

The paternity controversy surrounding Anu is not new. In January 2025, Davido’s former lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, stated that Anu is not Davido’s child, claiming that DNA tests conducted at two different hospitals confirmed this position.
However, Anu’s mother, Ayo Labinjo, disputed that claim in a press statement shared via her daughter’s page, insisting that Anu is indeed an Adeleke. She further alleged that the DNA process was compromised, accusing the singer of bribing a medical professional involved in the test—an allegation Davido has not publicly addressed.
ANU SPEAKS: IDENTITY, BULLYING, AND MENTAL HEALTH
In her recent message, Anu shifted attention from legal claims to her personal experience, revealing that she has faced bullying since the age of six after telling classmates that Davido was her father. According to her, the ridicule caused prolonged emotional distress, leading her to seek help from a medical professional to protect her mental health.
Despite these challenges, she said she continued to excel academically, becoming a class prefect, and has largely avoided discussing her family history in recent years.

HER APPEAL TO DAVIDO
In a heartfelt note, Anu respectfully asked Davido to agree to a DNA test, stressing that the request is personal and motivated by a desire for truth rather than public drama.
She described the test as “the right thing to do,” adding that she had also sent the message directly to the singer via private message.
She concluded by thanking Nigerians who have supported her emotionally over the years and offered prayers to the Adeleke family.
PUBLIC REACTION
As expected, the post sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users urged Davido to grant the request in the interest of the child’s well-being, others warned that another DNA test—if negative—could expose Anu to further emotional harm.
Several commentators emphasised that the matter should now be approached with sensitivity, noting that it involves a minor whose mental and emotional health should take priority over public opinion.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Beyond celebrity headlines and online debates, the situation highlights the long-term impact of unresolved paternity disputes on children, especially in the age of social media. As the story unfolds, attention is increasingly shifting away from past accusations to the welfare and emotional stability of a young girl seeking clarity about her identity.
Whether Davido responds or not, many observers believe the coming days will be critical in determining if this long-running issue finally reaches a point of closure.
