US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have unveiled a sweeping new economic and technology accord, hailing it as the “biggest deal of its kind in British history.”
Speaking at a joint business forum in London on Wednesday, Trump described the UK-US alliance as an “unbreakable bond,” thanking Starmer for his hospitality and King Charles and Queen Camilla for hosting him during his second state visit.
“The ties between our countries are priceless,” Trump said. “We are building up the industrial capacities of both our nations, which is vital for defence. There’s no more natural partnership in the world.”
The US president claimed that over $17 trillion had been invested in the American economy this year, crediting tariffs for boosting revenues and protecting domestic companies. He also announced progress on a long-discussed civil nuclear deal, revealing that US-based X-energy and UK energy company Centrica would work together to deploy nuclear reactors across Britain.
“This has been in the wind for years,” Trump said. “Now it’s finally getting done.”
Starmer, addressing business leaders, said the agreement on civil nuclear power would generate electricity for millions of households and businesses, cutting bills and enhancing energy security.
He also touted the broader Tech Prosperity Deal, which he and Trump signed shortly after their remarks. The agreement, Starmer said, is “a blueprint to win this new era together,” with billions in investment expected to flow both ways across the Atlantic.
“Today’s deal is by a country mile the biggest in British history,” Starmer declared. “It will create thousands of good jobs, drive down costs for working people, and show the potency of this partnership.”
Both leaders stressed that the deal covers critical sectors including technology, defence, finance, and energy. Trump described the partnership as a “beautiful inheritance” that their governments are working to make “closer than ever before.”
