A senior police officer has been captured in a viral video confronting a junior colleague accused of extorting money from motorists, ordering him to publicly return all the cash he had collected.
The incident reportedly occurred in Abia State, where the senior officer, visibly upset, demanded that the officer immediately produce the money taken from road users. In the footage, the junior officer is seen reluctantly bringing out cash from his pockets and placing it on the bonnet of a nearby vehicle.
The senior officer, issuing firm instructions from inside his car, repeatedly ordered, “Drop all the money,” warning that failure to comply could lead to disciplinary action at the headquarters.

As the situation unfolded, the senior officer condemned the act, reminding his subordinate that policing is about maintaining law and order, not extorting members of the public.
“Did police send you to collect money on the road? Your duty is to prevent crime, not to tax keke riders or motorists,” he said.
The junior officer, appearing shaken, apologised repeatedly while attempting to plead for leniency, but was told to keep his distance as the reprimand continued.
The senior officer further criticised the behaviour, describing it as disgraceful and below the standards expected of law enforcement personnel. He stressed that any legitimate fines or enforcement actions must follow proper procedures, including documenting offences and taking offenders to the station.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the senior officer’s stance against corruption while calling for broader reforms within the police force.
