Operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have successfully neutralized numerous bandits in Shiroro, Niger State.
On September 11, DSS assets were attacked in Bassa, Shiroro LGA, but the assault was met with intense resistance, resulting in the death of several bandits. According to counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, over 100 attackers faced fierce opposition from DSS personnel, who tragically lost two members in the clash.
The Nigerian Air Force quickly intervened, launching a series of airstrikes that inflicted substantial casualties on the bandits. As of the latest update, security forces have recovered the bodies of at least 28 bandits, with many more still scattered in the area.
In addition to the significant loss of life, several weapons and motorcycles used by the bandits have been seized. The operation’s cost is underscored by the loss of two DSS personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in their fight against the bandits.
