The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, along with his son, Abdulaziz Malami, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a five-count charge related to terrorism financing.

The defendants appeared before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik and entered not guilty pleas to all charges, which include aiding and abetting terrorism, engaging in preparatory acts for terrorism, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Prosecutors allege that during Malami’s tenure as AGF, he deliberately failed to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers despite receiving case files for action, thereby abetting terrorist activities.

Additional charges involve possession of a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm without a valid license, as well as 16 live and 27 expended Redstar AAA 5.20 cartridges.
The court has adjourned the case for further proceedings, including hearings on bail applications.

Malami, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023, was previously arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on suspicions of fraud and money laundering.
