The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over a series of online posts urging the Nigerian military to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from power.
The suspect, identified as Innocent Chukwuma, allegedly used his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @TheAgroman, to make repeated calls for a coup, claiming it was the only way to “reset the country.”

In one of his posts, Chukwuma reportedly wrote:
“A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now. It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.”
“The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West. Only the military can reset this country. Support them.”

According to security sources, DSS operatives traced the posts to Oyigbo and arrested Chukwuma after confirming his account was active. His digital devices were also confiscated for forensic analysis.
A source familiar with the investigation said the suspect is cooperating with investigators as they examine his online contacts and potential collaborators. Authorities described the arrest as a necessary step to deter calls for unconstitutional takeovers and safeguard national stability.

Legal experts note that advocating military intervention or suspension of the constitution constitutes a serious offence under Nigerian law.
The arrest has sparked debate online — while many Nigerians condemned the suspect’s comments, others expressed concerns about freedom of speech.
DSS officials said investigations are ongoing and further arrests could follow as the agency tracks related online activities.
