The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued Hamza Durya, the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council in Kano State, following his recent abduction.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, confirmed the operation on Wednesday, noting that two suspected kidnappers were also arrested during the rescue mission.
Durya was reportedly kidnapped from his residence in Durya village within Kibiya Local Government Area, triggering an immediate response from security agencies across the state. A coordinated operation by DSS personnel led to the safe release of the victim and the apprehension of the suspects, who sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.
Waiya described the outcome as a major success and praised the professionalism and dedication of the security operatives. He also acknowledged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for providing critical support and resources that strengthened security operations across Kano State.
The commissioner reassured residents of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. He emphasized that cooperation between citizens and security agencies is crucial for sustaining community safety.
The state government reiterated its dedication to working with all stakeholders to ensure lasting security throughout all 44 local government areas.
