EFCC GRILLS EX-MINISTER OF JUSTICE ABUBAKAR MALAMI FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONE WEEK

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has interrogated former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), for the second time within a week.

According to Sahara Reporters, sources revealed that Malami was taken into custody late Monday and has been attempting to meet the agency’s bail conditions.

It was learned that the EFCC instructed him to present two permanent secretaries who would act as sureties before he can be released.

A source familiar with the development said, “EFCC arrested Abubakar Malami again on Monday night; he was searching for two permanent secretaries to meet his bail requirement.”

On November 28, Malami confirmed that he had been invited by the EFCC to clarify certain matters.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, he assured the public that he is a law-abiding citizen and would comply fully with the commission’s summons.

“I want to inform my family and friends that the EFCC has invited me for clarification on some issues. As someone who respects law and order, I will honor the invitation without hesitation,” he stated.

Following this, the EFCC questioned the former minister and confiscated his travel documents before granting him bail.
A top EFCC source told Vanguard that the seizure of the passports is part of a broader investigation into a missing $490 million Abacha loot obtained through a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLAT) arrangement.

Malami later issued another statement confirming that he had made additional appearances at the EFCC office.
In a post on his X handle, he insisted that the allegations against him were baseless.

“Glory be to Allah for His intervention. The session went well, and I was released with another scheduled appointment as the truth behind these fabricated accusations continues to unfold,” he wrote last Saturday.
