Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have reportedly raided the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over allegations of multi-billion naira fraud.
In a video that surfaced online on Monday, armed EFCC officials were seen attempting to gain entry into the residence but were blocked by a crowd gathered at the gate. Malami was also present at the scene and was seen engaging the operatives, though the situation appeared tense as they tried to carry out their operation.

This development comes months after a similar raid in December 2025, when EFCC operatives searched Malami’s offices and private residences in both Abuja and Kebbi State. The earlier operation was confirmed by his media aide, Mohammed Doka, who claimed it followed references made by Malami’s office to a section of the Justice Ayo Salami Judicial Commission of Inquiry report.
Doka had accused EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, of bias and called for his withdrawal from matters involving the former minister.
Malami, alongside his wife and son, is currently facing a 16-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering filed by the EFCC. They have, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The former minister has also faced a series of legal battles in recent months, including detention, re-arrest, and eventual release on bail granted by a Federal High Court in Abuja. He is said to have met his bail conditions and regained freedom prior to the latest development.
