The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 31 suspected internet fraudsters during a raid on a cybercrime training centre located at Becki Estate, Karu, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The suspects, which include two alleged leaders and several trainees, were caught during what appeared to be organised training sessions for online fraud activities. Authorities also recovered several items from the location, including mobile phones, 18 laptops, and other electronic devices.

Investigations show that some of the trainees were reportedly brought in from Benue State under the pretence of job opportunities. However, upon arrival, they were provided with computers, communication tools, and specialised software used for cyber-related activities as part of their training.

Further findings revealed that participants were kept within the premises, had their phones seized, and were restricted from leaving the facility. Reports also indicate that physical punishment was used to enforce discipline among the trainees.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court once investigations are completed.
