Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji is certain to win the June 2026 governorship election, citing his impressive performance and visible achievements over the past three years.

Governor Okpebholo made the remark on Wednesday in Ikere Ekiti, while inaugurating the Ikere–Igbara Odo Road and a newly constructed farm dormitory — both projects executed by the Oyebanji administration as part of activities marking its third anniversary.
Other state governors, including Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, had also visited Ekiti in recent days to commission similar infrastructure projects.
Overflowing with admiration, Okpebholo praised Oyebanji’s accomplishments and the overwhelming grassroots support he enjoys.

“Governor Oyebanji, my good brother and friend, you have done exceptionally well. Everywhere I turned in Ekiti, I heard people talking about ‘BAO’. It’s clear the people appreciate your hard work,” he said.
The Edo governor added that with Oyebanji’s record of achievements — including the completion of a flyover within three years — his re-election bid would be effortless.
“You hardly need to campaign. The work you’ve done already speaks for you,” he remarked.
Governor Oyebanji, in his response, described the newly commissioned Ikere–Igbara Odo Road as an economic lifeline for Ekiti, explaining that it will open up agricultural corridors, enhance trade, and ensure safer travel for residents who had previously suffered from insecurity along the route.
xpressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting state governments through key economic reforms, especially the fiscal policies that have boosted infrastructure development nationwide.
“We remain committed to serving our people diligently. With the support of Ekiti citizens, we’ll continue to deliver projects that transform lives,” Oyebanji pledged.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Sola Adebayo, noted that the road, once notorious for kidnappings and neglect, has now been transformed into a safe and economically vital route.

The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, commended the governor for his speed and dedication, noting that his passion for governance is restoring confidence and unity among the people.
“For the first time, Ekiti is witnessing true continuity in governance. The support you enjoy is genuine and well-earned. But expectations are high for your second term — keep the momentum,” the monarch advised.
