Three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors — Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Sim Fubara (Rivers) — were absent from the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Governors Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and host Seyi Makinde (Oyo) attended the event, along with several former governors, ex-Senate President Adolphus Wabara, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The convention is proceeding despite conflicting court orders and opposition from the Nyesom Wike-led FCT faction. The Umar Damagum-led leadership insisted the exercise must hold.

Governor Fubara is believed to be staying away due to his alignment with the Wike camp. Adeleke and Kefas, also absent, have faced allegations—repeatedly denied—of planning to defect to the ruling party.
Meanwhile, former Abia Governor and ex-senator Theodore Orji has resigned from the PDP. In a letter to his ward chairman, Orji said his decision followed consultations with family and associates, expressing gratitude for his years in the party.
