Abimbola Fashola, wife of former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, has opened up about how she handled rumours alleging that her husband had another family while he was in office.
Speaking during an appearance alongside her husband on the Morayo Afolabi Show, the former First Lady addressed the claims and explained why the reports never created fear or tension in their home.

According to her, the strength of their relationship and their culture of open communication helped her remain calm when she first heard the story. She said her sisters informed her of rumours that her husband allegedly had another family in Magodo and frequently visited them there.
Rather than react emotionally, she said she chose to stay composed and seek spiritual guidance before addressing the matter.

She later confronted her husband directly, noting that they discuss everything openly.
“I heard a story from my sisters. They said your husband has another family in Magodo. I said, ‘Ah, my husband. Okay, not to worry,’ because the relationship we share, there’s nothing we don’t say to one another,” she said.

“It’s all about communication. Most times, when I hear things like that, I wait for the Holy Spirit to direct me. So I asked him about it. He was surprised and said, ‘Magodo? How many times have I been to Magodo? Maybe during campaign.’”
Abimbola also addressed public perceptions of her husband’s personality, particularly the belief that he never gets angry. She said while he is generally calm and composed, he is still human and experiences emotions like everyone else.

“That idea that he never gets angry is a lie,” she said, adding that leadership responsibilities often require patience and restraint.
Babatunde Fashola served two terms as governor of Lagos State before later being appointed a minister under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
