Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, as well as the second-term ambitions of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy.
Fayose, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the endorsement during an All Progressives Congress (APC) event held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.
“I publicly and wholeheartedly endorse the President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term,” Fayose stated. “Likewise, I endorse our governor, Abayomi Oyebanji, and his deputy for another term in office.”
Despite appearing at the event wearing a PDP-branded cap, Fayose emphasized his continued allegiance to the PDP, making it clear that his endorsement does not signal a defection to the APC.
“I remain a committed member of the PDP. I’m not joining the APC, and I will never be a member,” he said. “This endorsement is about leadership and performance, not party affiliation.”
Fayose noted the presence of key political figures in the state at the event, including former governors, legislators, and community leaders, all of whom, he claimed, backed Tinubu’s re-election.
His endorsement comes shortly after he warned that the PDP could place as low as fourth in the 2027 elections — a remark that has sparked criticism within the party.
In response to his recent political comments and open support for APC leaders, the PDP in Ekiti State has called for Fayose’s resignation, accusing him of engaging in anti-party activities.
Meanwhile, Fayose’s support adds momentum to the growing list of endorsements for Tinubu’s second-term bid. In June, APC leaders from the South-South region declared their backing for Tinubu, while the Progressive Governors Forum had earlier named him the party’s sole presidential candidate for 2027.
