FCT POLL: INEC BEGINS MANUAL, ELECTRONIC RESULT COLLATION AT KUBWA CENTRE

Kubwa, FCT – Collation officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Kubwa Registration Area Centre have commenced both manual and electronic collation of results following the conclusion of voting in the FCT Area Council Elections.

The collation started at 6:15 pm at LEA Primary School, Kubwa II, where presiding officers began entering results into the official EC8A form. The hybrid collation process is intended to ensure that results uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV) via the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) correspond with the manual results.

A Registration Area Supervisor explained that presiding officers had already uploaded results from polling units using BVAS. “What they are doing now is collating manually and electronically to ensure the results tally. From here, they will take the verified results to the Area Council office for further collation,” the supervisor said.

Another officer, Mrs. Okoye Adeiza, clarified that laptops handled by the Operations team and BVAS devices managed by ICT staff are working together to verify and match the results. “This is Operations (laptops), this (BVAS) is ICT. We are ensuring the results match before forwarding them to the local government,” she said.

The elections, held across six Area Councils and 62 wards of the FCT, were conducted to elect Chairmen and Councillors. Voting in most parts of Kubwa Ward started behind schedule at 8:30 am, with several units reporting low voter turnout.
