FG Pledges to Strengthen Nigerian Armed Forces to Tackle Security Challenges
The Federal Government has assured that it will continue to empower the Nigerian Armed Forces to address the nation’s ongoing security challenges.
Vice President Kashim Shettima reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment during a special Jumma’a Prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, ahead of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
January 15 is observed annually to honor the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN). The event has recently been renamed from Armed Forces Remembrance Day to Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, reflecting its dual purpose of recognizing the dedication of serving personnel while remembering fallen heroes.
During his address, Shettima paid tribute to soldiers who have sacrificed their lives to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
