The Federal Government has introduced the Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award, a ₦10 million initiative designed to recognize journalists and digital influencers who promote accurate, balanced, and impactful reporting on Nigeria’s ongoing tax reforms.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, via his official X handle. The award follows the passage of four new tax reform laws signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on June 26, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

According to Oyedele, the initiative aims to “encourage constructive public discourse, combat misinformation, and promote journalism that helps citizens understand and trust government reforms.”
The competition is open to Nigerian journalists across print, broadcast, and online platforms, as well as digital influencers, bloggers, and podcasters. Eligible entries must have been published between July 1 and December 31, 2025, and may be submitted in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba.

The first-place winner will receive ₦10 million, the second-place ₦5 million, and the third-place ₦3 million. In addition, ₦1 million consolation prizes will be given to each of the top 20 finalists.
Entries will be judged on five criteria: accuracy and technical soundness, balance and fairness, clarity and accessibility, audience engagement, and creativity.

Submissions will open on fiscalreforms.ng until December 31, 2025. Interested participants can contact the committee at enquiries@fiscalreforms.ng or via WhatsApp at 0810 975 3151 for more details.
