FIFA has officially revealed Trionda, the match ball that will be used throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking another milestone in the buildup to the tournament jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The ball, designed by long-time FIFA partner Adidas, was unveiled at a ceremony in New York on Thursday. Adidas has produced every World Cup ball since 1970.
“I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the launch event.
The name and design reflect the unprecedented joint hosting of the tournament across three nations. Trionda features a color scheme of red, blue, and green, representing each host country. It also incorporates symbolic imagery: Canada’s maple leaves, Mexico’s eagle, and U.S. stars. Triangular motifs on the surface highlight the unity of the co-hosts.
Technological Features
Beyond its striking appearance, Trionda incorporates advanced technology.
-
Deep seams are engineered for greater flight stability.
-
Embossed icons enhance grip, especially in wet or humid conditions.
-
A built-in motion sensor chip will provide real-time ball-tracking data to support the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
Countdown to 2026
The 2026 World Cup, which will run from June 11 to July 19, will be the first to feature 48 teams. FIFA confirmed that over 4.5 million fans from 216 countries and territories have already applied in the presale ticket draw.
The official tournament draw is scheduled for December 5 in Washington, D.C.
