The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State continues to suffer a wave of defections as five more loyalists of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai have officially resigned from the party.
This follows El-Rufai’s March 10 resignation from the APC and his subsequent defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Since his exit, several of his political allies have also begun to leave the ruling party.
Key Resignations from APC
The latest politicians to part ways with the APC include former high-ranking officials from El-Rufai’s cabinet:
- Ibrahim Hussaini – Former Commissioner for Agriculture
- Aisha Dikko – Former Commissioner for Justice
- Amina Baloni – Former Commissioner for Health
- Halima Lawal – Former Commissioner for Education
- Hajiya Bari’atu Mohammed – Former Head of Service, Kaduna State
While the defectors have yet to officially announce their next political move, there is growing speculation that they will follow El-Rufai to the SDP in preparation for the 2027 elections.
