Real Madrid has announced that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has extended his contract with the club.
This was in a statement on the club’s website on Monday, which revealed that the 29-year-old will remain with the club till 2026.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Thibaut Courtois have agreed on an extension to the player’s contract which will see him remain at the club for the next five seasons, up until 30 June 2026,” the statement read.
Madrid had signed the goalkeeper from Chelsea in August 2018, a deal said to be worth around £35m. The deal also involved Mateo Kovacic crossing over from the Spanish club to Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Belgian has been nominated alongside Ederson (Manchester City) and Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League positional award for goalkeepers.
