Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is expected to submit the list of proposed commissioners to the State House of Assembly for approval this week, sources revealed yesterday.

The move is part of a renewed truce facilitated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu between Governor Fubara and his former political mentor, Nyesom Wike.
According to insiders, the President hosted Governor Fubara, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, the Speaker of the House, and several Rivers State elders at the Presidential Villa on Sunday night. The meeting aimed to resolve the political stalemate that had stalled governance in the state.

During the discussions, Fubara was reportedly presented with three options to safeguard his position and avoid impeachment by the House of Assembly. He was also tasked with implementing the agreements brokered by President Tinubu following the post-emergency rule.

Following the Villa meeting, Fubara is said to have visited Wike at his residence in Guzape, Abuja, where he reportedly tendered an apology.
A source stated, “The President was very direct with the governor about his conduct. He was displeased with how Fubara had handled certain matters,” adding that he advised against any attempt to remove Fubara from office.
