GHANA DEPORTS 42 NIGERIANS FOR PROSTITUTION, OTHERS.

At least 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region after being found culpable in various criminal cases by different courts.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025. He said the deportations followed convictions or rulings related to offences such as prostitution, fraud, alleged links to Q-Net activities, and other crimes.

Aside from the Nigerians, Amoakohene noted that several other foreign nationals were also removed from the region. These included 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven Beninese citizens, bringing the total number of deportees to 68.

In his statement, the minister praised the Ghana Immigration Service for what he described as its professionalism and strict adherence to due process. He commended the agency for working closely with the courts and other security bodies to enforce immigration laws, protect vulnerable individuals, and maintain public order in the region.ADS 8

The deportations come against the backdrop of increasing scrutiny of Nigerians abroad. In late November, reports emerged that no fewer than 50 Nigerians were arrested in India during a large-scale, coordinated operation targeting a transnational narcotics and money-laundering network.

According to India’s NDTV, the operation was spearheaded by the Delhi Police in collaboration with the Telangana Police’s EAGLE unit. Following months of intelligence gathering, law enforcement agencies carried out simultaneous raids across Delhi and other locations, dismantling key elements of a syndicate allegedly involved in trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as operating a hawala money-laundering system across multiple Indian cities.
