Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested several suspects—including a 75-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, and a mother of two—during coordinated anti-narcotics raids across Nigeria.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a Sunday statement that officers discovered 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.6kg, hidden in cocoa butter body cream containers, at the Lagos airport on October 14. The shipment was bound for London via an Air Peace flight. Cargo agent Lawal Mustapha Olakunle and two others—Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, a travel agency CEO—were later arrested in connection with the case.

In Enugu, NDLEA officers stopped a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, from smuggling 103.59g of methamphetamine to the Philippines on October 22.

Further arrests included two men caught in Taraba with 450,000 tramadol and exol-5 pills, and others intercepted in Kogi and Nasarawa with over 290kg of cannabis (skunk).

In Lagos, a mother of two, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, was arrested in Lekki for distributing premium cannabis strains known as “Canadian” and “California Loud.” Officers also raided a home in Ikorodu, seizing 275 litres of “skuchies”, a psychoactive drink made with black currant, cannabis, and opioids.

Elsewhere, NDLEA arrested a 75-year-old man and 60-year-old woman in Abia for possession of skunk, seized large cannabis consignments in Ondo and Kaduna, and intercepted drugs and weapons in Zamfara—including an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of ammunition.

Babafemi said all suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
