SUPPORTERS of the All Progressive Congress under the aegis of APC Rebirth Group, has raised the alarm over the invitation allegedly extended to Mustapha Audu, a leading figure in the Progressive Youth Movement, by the Department of State Services.
The group also condemned what it referred to as the purported suspension of Audu, who was named Chairman of the “new’’ APC national caretaker committee, by the party in his Ogbonicha Ward, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This was contained in a statement titled: ‘Mustapha Audu: APC Cannot Punish Alleged Illegality With Another Illegality – Concerned APC Stakeholders,’ signed on behalf of the group by Aliyu Audu, in Abuja, on Thursday.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the APC Rebirth Group has been drawn to the travails of Prince Mustapha Audu following his recent activities, especially in relation to the internal affairs of the APC and the stand of his group, the Progressive Youth Movement.
“Apparently flowing from the instruction of the (Governor Mai Mala Buni-led) CECPC, the chairman of the APC in Ogbonicha Ward of Ofu LGA of Kogi State, Peter Onoja, in a purported press conference addressed by him disowned Prince Mustapha Audu and said he has ceased being a member of the party.
“While we are yet to come to terms with this flagrant disregard for constituted rules and procedures and the diplomacy required at this time, it has been brought to our attention that the Department of State Services, has extended an invitation to Mustapha Audu, who is the leader of the Progressive Youth Movement, to appear before the service.
