**GUNMEN ATTACK KADUNA COMMUNITY, KILL FOUR, INJURE SEVEN**

r residents of Bundu-Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen, while seven others sustained gunshot injuries.

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday night, has plunged the usually peaceful community into mourning. The deceased were identified as Apolos Emmanuel, 19; Wilas Yahaya, 25; Darius Sunday, 12; and Nehemiah Jonathan, 25. The injured include Andrew Soda, 40; Dominic Audu, 37; Nabal Gagare, 34; Cornelius Emmanuel, 18; Francis Danzaria, 36; Sani Dini, 19; and Pius Aminu, 20.

A source revealed that the gunmen struck under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and causing panic among villagers. The source noted that this is the second deadliest attack in Bundu-Kahugu, citing a similar incident in 2012 that also claimed four lives—Chindo Mukaddas, Sarah Tatiyan, Jonah Kawari, and Daniel Micah.

The source described the renewed violence as shocking, emphasizing Bundu-Kahugu’s long-standing reputation for peace and non-aggression toward neighboring communities. He called on the government and security agencies to urgently intervene and safeguard lives and property in the area.

Attempts to reach Kaduna State Police Command spokesman Mansir Hussaini for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

The attack comes amid a surge in insecurity across Nigeria, fueled by repeated assaults from bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers—a situation that led President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on security.
