‘He will embarrass you’: Fani-Kayode warns Tinubu against meeting Trump over Christian genocide claims

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has warned President Bola Tinubu against holding a meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump over alleged Christian genocide claims, describing it as a potential embarrassment to Nigeria.

Speaking during the 2025 Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association, Akure Branch, Fani-Kayode said Trump’s interest in Nigeria was not for peace or stability but to exploit religious divisions and interfere in the country’s internal affairs.

He cautioned that such engagement could undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty, adding that the fight against terrorism in the country was not a religious war since both Muslims and Christians have been victims of extremist attacks.

Fani-Kayode stressed that Nigeria must not rely on foreign powers to solve its security challenges, urging President Tinubu to take full responsibility for eliminating terrorist groups through decisive military action.

“The solution is for our political leadership and Armed Forces to muster the will to ruthlessly wipe out the Islamist terrorists and foreign militias once and for all. That obligation rests on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu alone,” he stated.

He also accused the United States of supporting extremist groups to destabilise other nations, claiming that “they created Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram, and others to weaken countries.”ADS 7

Fani-Kayode called on Tinubu to engage seasoned diplomats to handle the matter through proper diplomatic channels rather than through controversial meetings that could damage Nigeria’s image.Headline news
