Heartbreak as Prince William’s friend plunges 100ft to his death

Ben Duncan, a former university friend of Prince William, has died after falling from the rooftop bar of London’s Trafalgar St. James hotel. The 45-year-old reportedly fell seven floors late Thursday night.

Metropolitan Police said officers were called around 11:02 p.m. on October 30 to reports of a “man on the roof” in Westminster. Despite swift response from police and London Ambulance Service, Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities described his death as “unexpected but non-suspicious.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed multiple emergency teams were deployed, including paramedics, incident response officers, and an air ambulance trauma team, but all efforts to save him failed.

Duncan, who studied at St Andrews University alongside Prince William and Princess Kate, was part of their close circle and among the first to know of their relationship. After university, he appeared on several TV shows such as Big Brother, Come Dine With Me, Ladette to Lady, and Celebrity Coach Trip.

His friend, broadcaster Mike Hollingsworth, paid tribute on Facebook, describing him as “the boy who never grew up,” remembered for his wit, charm, and infectious laugh.
