Popular Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has officially launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, an initiative aimed at empowering and nurturing emerging music talents in Nigeria.
The foundation was unveiled on March 9, 2026, during a glamorous event held at The Delborough in Victoria Island. The launch was organised in partnership with Berklee College of Music, the singer’s alma mater.
As part of the initiative, the foundation will run a free intensive training programme in Lagos from April 23 to April 26, designed to train 100 emerging talents in key areas of the music industry. Participants will receive mentorship and practical training in songwriting, music production, performance, and other industry skills.
Applications for the programme are open until March 20, and selected participants will have their training fully funded.

The star-studded launch attracted several prominent figures from entertainment, politics, and business, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Don Jazzy, Bose Ogulu, Toke Makinwa, Mo Abudu, Johnny Drille, Darey Art Alade and his wife, alongside other notable personalities such as Shade Okoya, Layal Tinubu, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, Bankulli, and Sosoberekon.
Their presence highlighted the significance of the initiative and Tiwa Savage’s commitment to supporting the next generation of Afrobeats stars.
However, one moment that quickly went viral online was when Governor Sanwo-Olu was spotted dancing with Tiwa Savage during the event. As the DJ played one of her songs, the singer confidently sang along to the lyrics while the governor joined in the dance, though he appeared to struggle slightly with the words.
The light-hearted moment drew reactions on social media, with many praising the governor for blending his demanding political schedule with moments of entertainment and cultural engagement.
