First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, along with numerous distinguished guests, has touched down in Daura, Katsina State, to pay final respects to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former leader’s remains, being transported from London to Nigeria, are set for interment today, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his family residence in Daura. Buhari passed away on Sunday at approximately 4:30 PM GMT following an extended illness.
Accompanying the First Lady were several prominent female figures, including Mrs. Fatimah Abbas, spouse of the House Speaker; Hajia Laila Barau, wife of the Deputy Senate President; Barrister Zarah Ribadu, wife of the National Security Adviser; and Mrs. Abu Ibrahim.
Among the notable attendees are former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Governors Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), and Abdul’aziz Yari (Zamfara). Former Minister of Information and Digital Economy Isa Pantami, the Emir of Daura A

Current Governors Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos made the journey, accompanied by business mogul Aliko Dangote.
Niger Republic’s Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine was welcomed to Katsina by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, joining the growing contingent of West African leaders honoring the departed Nigerian statesman.
Yemi Osinbajo, who served alongside Buhari as vice president throughout his eight-year tenure, has also arrived in Katsina for the ceremonies.
Additional mourners include former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi and Pauline Tallen, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State and ex-Minister of Women Affairs.
