I AM READY TO MEET TINUBU FOR NIGERIA’S PROGRESS, SAYS SULE LAMIDO

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has said he is open to meeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if invited, noting that such a discussion should be focused on Nigeria’s unity, progress, and development.

Speaking from his hometown in Bamaina during the Eid celebration, Lamido said he would be willing to engage the President in meaningful dialogue if it serves the country’s best interests.

“I will be more than willing. So when are we going to see him?” he said, expressing readiness for constructive engagement.

He, however, dismissed claims that he had rejected an invitation to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that no such offer had been made to him.

“When was I invited? Let me know, please. Did he send you to me? I’m hearing this from you for the first time,” Lamido added.

According to him, any meeting with the President should go beyond politics and focus on national development.

“If it is about the progress and development of Nigeria, I am open. I will be willing to meet him,” he reiterated.

Lamido also denied reports linking him to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing viral images suggesting such affiliation as misleading and likely fabricated.

“In this era of social media and content creation, anything is possible. People sit in their rooms and create stories. I have not seen such pictures,” he said.

Reflecting on the state of the nation, the former governor urged Nigerians to take responsibility for their electoral choices, stressing that leadership outcomes are a reflection of the decisions made by the people.

“When we were campaigning, we urged Nigerians to vote right, with integrity and conscience. People voted, and whatever you put in is what you get out,” he noted.

He also used the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to congratulate Muslims, encouraging continued prayers for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

“We thank Allah Almighty for sparing our lives to witness Ramadan. It was a period of repentance, prayers and supplications,” he said.

Lamido concluded by praying for national peace and prosperity, while calling for divine guidance for leaders across all levels of government.
