FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has defended the presence of his sons during his official local and foreign trips, saying they are not part of any government delegation and receive no public funds.

In an interview on Monday, Wike asked, “What law says my sons should not travel? Let them show where the FCT paid even ₦1 for them.” He explained that his sons, both master’s degree holders, accompany him to gain exposure and learn about governance.
Wike described his children as disciplined and responsible, noting that his first son, a lawyer, is training to become a farmer, while his second son, with a master’s in Economics from King’s College, plans to go into real estate.
He said critics should appreciate that his children bring him peace, not scandal.

The minister has faced public criticism after being seen with his sons at official events, including a summit in Dubai. He was also questioned for driving a Rolls-Royce to a government function, which he defended, saying, “I’m not a poor man.”
