‘I WILL ENSURE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM’: TINUBU SENDS CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s pledge to uphold and protect religious freedom across Nigeria, assuring citizens that no one should be persecuted for their beliefs.

The President gave the assurance in his 2025 Christmas message to Nigerians, with a special focus on the Christian community at home and abroad. He said his government would continue to engage religious leaders as part of efforts to foster unity, curb intolerance, and strengthen peaceful coexistence.

According to Tinubu, regular interactions with leaders of Nigeria’s two dominant faiths throughout the year have helped shape conversations around insecurity and religious harmony. He noted that these discussions would be deepened to enhance cooperation between faith institutions and the government in preventing conflict.

While extending Christmas greetings, the President described the season as a period for reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of peace, hope, and redemption. He said Christmas serves as a reminder of Christ’s role as the Prince of Peace and calls on humanity to embrace love and goodwill beyond the festivities.

Tinubu also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to lead the nation, offering prayers for peace and understanding among Nigerians of diverse religious backgrounds. He stressed that his administration remains firm in its resolve to guarantee every citizen the freedom to worship without fear or intimidation.

Reiterating this commitment, the President said safeguarding people of all faiths from violence remains a core responsibility of his government. He acknowledged the positive impact of Christianity on national development, noting that Christian teachings have encouraged compassion, support for the vulnerable, and the promotion of tolerance in society.

He further commended individuals and groups who, inspired by the example of Jesus Christ, dedicate themselves to advancing harmony and peaceful living within their communities.

On national security, Tinubu said his administration has remained focused on preserving Nigeria’s unity and stability since taking office in 2023. He maintained that all Nigerians, regardless of belief or ethnicity, deserve to live, worship, and pursue their goals in safety and dignity.

The President also highlighted shared moral values across religions, stressing that love for God and fellow human beings should continue to unite Nigerians as one people.

As the festive season prompts increased travel, Tinubu advised citizens to remain patient and law-abiding on the roads, while wishing travellers safe journeys.

Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, he said Nigeria would continue progressing through collective effort and faith, building a country that future generations would be proud to inherit.
